Seattle threw out a lot of weed convictions
by Nathan'ette Burdine: October 2, 2018

I see Seattle has thrown out weed convictions that are dated all the way back to 1996.

When asked why he asked the court to do it, City Attorney Pete Holmes told folks that the convictions were just plain out wrong and the city needed “to right the injustices of a drug war that has primarily targeted people of color.”

The war on drugs has hurt a lot of people with a lot of color. That crack epidemic, Nancy Reagan telling folks to “Just Say No,” and Hillary Clinton hollering about “super predators,” didn’t help the situation.

What they did do was metastasize the problem by focusing on the symptoms and not the cause of the drug problem.

Those highfalutin devils didn’t pay any never mind to how the socio-economic conditions, politics, and or health of the individuals who were victims of the crack epidemic led to them using the drug.

All they paid any mind to was all of that color the folks, who were victims of the crack epidemic, had.

And for the highfalutin folks sitting in their ivory towers casting judgement upon others while they “like beer, drink beer” and try to steal pussy in between; any drug, no matter how harmless it may be, was bad if folks with a lot of color like to use it.

Hell, it didn’t matter that the drug the folks with all of the color like to use was as harmless as smoking the leaves on the trees.

All that mattered is that the folks with all of the color like to smoke it. And for those highfalutin, sanctified sinning folks, that’s all they needed.

Well, now, folks who have a lot of color tend to vote and folks who don’t have a lot of color like to get high on meth and coke.

Therefore, that “Just Say No” and “super predator” stuff has got to do. Back in 2003, Seattle began taking a second look at how they police drugs involving marijuana users.

The city placed on the ballot a measure, which voters ended up supporting, that placed arresting Mary Jane smokers at the bottom of the police’s to do list.

Seven years later, Holmes became the city attorney and decided that he wasn’t going to use his office’s time, efforts, and many resources to prosecute people who like smoking trees.

And then in 2012, the state of Washington told folks that once they became 21 they can do with Mary Jane what they do with cigarettes, smoke ‘em.

Everybody who was 21-years-old and older were like, “YEEEAAAHHH!” Everybody else was like, “What’s the name of the street corner dude who’ll buy you some weed.”

It also helped that then President Barack Obama told the feds not to go around there just throwing folks in the federal pen because they love Mary Jane.

Don’t get me wrong, smoking trees was and is still illegal under federal law. It’s just that Obama was like, “I smoked trees. I hoped. I believed and look where it all got me. We got other things to do and other places to be. Deuces.”

This new administration, though. President Donald “Grab ‘Em By The Pussy” John Trump Sr., and United States Attorney General Jeff “I Liked The KKK Until They Starting Smoking Mary J” Beauregard Sessions III believe weed is the “gateway” drug to that “devils triangle” Supreme Court Justice Nominee Brett “Full Keg” Kavanaugh thought we were all dumb enough to believe he was talking about during the Senate Judiciary Confirmation hearing about his attempted drunk rape of Christine Blasey Ford when they were teenagers.

In fact, Trump, Sessions, and Kavanaugh don’t like any woman they can’t control. But hey, that’s another story.

The judges in Seattle made it clear that immigrants who get their marijuana convictions overturn may still have to take up their case with the immigration courts.

The immigration courts are federal and the hating duo have let everybody know they can’t “Make America Great Again” if they don’t get rid of all of the colors that are brown and all of the trees that are green.
